We were inspired to create a series of PSAs that would expose the systemic racism woven into the fabric of the United States during the racial reckoning of 2020. It began as an internal social campaign to mask up, as African American communities were being devastated by the pandemic. It then became the catalyst for the Juneteenth Speaker Series: As a Matter of Fact Systemic Racism Does Exist. This 4-part live event was aired to McCann’s global network for a new discussion each week in June. Discussions were centered around the topics highlighted in the series, with a guest expert invited to give more context and deeper understanding to the issue.
